There’s no denying that British summers have been getting hotter and dryer over the last few years. Now summertime is upon us once again. While the weather has been reasonably clement so far, extreme dryness and water shortages could be just around the corner.
If you use a lot of water (for gardening or outdoor cleaning, for example), it’s important to plan ahead in order to cope with shortages.
Here at Anglian Pumping Services, we can help. We believe that there are just three simple things you should invest in if you want to deal with summertime water shortages effectively.
1. A borehole and borehole pump
As we’ve talked about in previous blogs, having a borehole drilled and a borehole pump installed will enable you to extract ground water from the water table. You can browse our range of borehole pumps here. Even during prolonged dry spells, ground water is present in most areas. This means that boreholes are the best way to reliably obtain water during summertime droughts and shortages.
2. A water filtration system
Obtaining water during a drought isn’t particularly difficult (as we demonstrated in point 1). Unfortunately, the water you get may not be very clean. It may even be too impure to use. A high-quality water filtration system can clean even the most polluted water. It may not be advisable to drink or wash in this water, even after it has been filtered. However, it can be used in many other ways. We recommend using a water filtration system in conjunction with a borehole to produce water for your garden or for cleaning outside.
3. Water storage facilities
The best way to avoid running out of water during a dry spell is to store it. Water butts can be used to store rainwater if you’re lucky enough to experience rainfall. Meanwhile, water storage tanks can be used to store borehole water or water pumped from natural features. In the unlikely event that your borehole dries up and it doesn’t rain for many weeks, you can fall back on stored water.
